【摘要】:1.1ThistestmethodisintendedasageneralguidefortheapplicationofthevolumetricKarlFischer(KF)titrationfordeterminingfreewaterandwaterofhydrationinmostsolidorliquidorganicandinorganiccompounds.ThistestmethodisdesignedforusewithautomatictitrationsystemscapableofdeterminingtheKFtitrationendpointamperometrically;however,amanualtitrationmethodfordeterminingtheendpointvisuallyisincludedasAppendixX1.Samplesthataregaseousatroomtemperaturearenotcovered(seeAppendixX4).Thistestmethodcoverstheuseofbothpyridineandpyridine-freeKFreagentsfordeterminingwaterbythevolumetrictitration.DeterminationofwaterusingKFcoulometrictitrationisnotdiscussed.Byproperchoiceofthesamplesize,KFreagentconcentrationandapparatus,thistestmethodissuitableformeasurementofwateroverawideconcentrationrange,thatis,partspermilliontopurewater.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Specificwarningsaregivenin3.1and7.3.3.1.3ReviewthecurrentMaterialSafetyDataSheets(MSDS)fordetailedinformationconcerningtoxicity,firstaidprocedures,andsafetyprecautionsforchemicalsusedinthistestprocedure.
