Test apparatus specifications outlined in this procedure were developed for components installed in the 12-V passenger cars, light trucks, 12 V heavy-duty trucks, and vehicles with 24 V systems

【摘要】:1.1ProceduresAandB:1.1.1TestProceduresAandBprovideforthedeterminationofindividualhydrocarboncomponentsofspark-ignitionenginefuelsandtheirmixturescontainingoxygenateblends(MTBE,ETBE,ethanol,andsoforth.)withboilingrangesupto225oC.Otherlightliquidhydrocarbonmixturestypicallyencounteredinpetroleumrefiningoperations,suchas,blendingstocks(naphthas,reformates,alkylates,andsoforth.)mayalsobeanalyzed;however,statisticaldatawasobtainedonlywithblendedspark-ignitionenginefuels.1.1.2Basedonthecooperativestudyresults,individualcomponentconcentrationsandprecisionaredeterminedintherangeof0.01toapproximately30%masspercent.Theproceduresmaybeapplicabletohigherandlowerconcentrationsfortheindividualcomponents;however,theusershallverifytheaccuracyiftheproceduresareusedforcomponentswithconcentrationsoutsidethespecifiedranges.1.1.3TestProceduresAandBalsodeterminemethanol,ethanol,t-butanolmethylt-butylether(MTBE),ethylt-butylether(ETBE),t-amyl-methyl-ether(TAME)insparkignitionenginefuelsintheconcentrationrangeof1to30mass%.However,thecooperativestudydataprovidedsufficientstatisticaldataforMTBEinProcedureBonly.1.1.4Althoughamajorityoftheindividualhydrocarbonspresentaredetermined,someco-elutionofcompoundsisencountered.Ifthistestmethodisutilizedtoestimatebulkhydrocarbongroup-typecomposition(PONA)theuserofsuchdatashouldbecautionedthatsomeerrorwillbeencounteredduetoco-elutionandalackofidentificationofallcomponentspresent.Samplescontainingsignificantamountsofolefinicornaphthenic,orboth(forexample,virginnaphthas)constituentsaboveN-octanemayreflectsignificanterrorsinPONAtypegroupings.Basedonthegasolinesamplesintheinterlaboratorycooperativestudy,theseproceduresareapplicabletoconcentrationsofolefinstolessthan25mass%.However,someinterferingcoelutionwiththeolefinsaboveC7ispossible,particularlyifblendingcomponentsortheirhigherboilingcutssuchasthosederivedfromfluidcatalyticcracking(FCC)areanalyzed,andthetotalolefincontentmaynotbeaccurate.AppendixX1ofthistestmethodcomparesresultsofthetestprocedureswithothertestmethodsforselectedcomponents,includingolefins,andseveralgrouptypesforseveralinterlaboratorycooperativestudysamples.Althoughbenzene,tolueneandseveraloxygenatesaredetermined,whendoubtfulastotheanalyticalresultsofthesecomponents,confirmatoryanalysiscanbeobtainedbyusingthespecifictestmethodslistedinthereferencesection.Totalolefinsinthesamplesmaybeobtainedorconfirmed,orboth,ifnecessary,byTestMethodD1319(volume%)orothertestmethods,suchasthosebasedonmultidimentionalPONAtypeofinstruments.1.1.5Ifwaterisorissuspectedofbeingpresent,itsconcentrationmaybedetermined,ifdesired,bytheuseofTestMethodD1744orequivalent.Othercompoundscontainingoxygen,sulfur,nitrogen,andsoforthmayalsobepresent,andmayco-elutewiththehydrocarbons.Ifdeterminationofthesespecificcompoundsisrequired,itisrecommendedthattestmethodsforthesespecificmaterialsbeused,suchasTestMethodsD4815andD5599foroxygenates,andTestMethodD5623forsulfurcompoundsorequivalent.1.2ProcedureC1.2.1TestProcedureCprovidesforthedeterminationofindividualhydrocarboncomponentsofspark-ignitionenginefuelswithboilingrangesupto225oC.Otherlightliquidhydrocarbonmixturestypicallyencounteredinpetroleumrefiningoperations,suchas,blendingstocks(naphthas,reformates,alkylates,andsoforth)mayalsobeanalyzed;however,statisticaldatawasobtainedonlywithblendedspark-ignitionenginefuels.Thetablesrel......
